After a year of subbing in Hamburg for a programmer who was out on parental leave, I’m headed to Prešov, Slovakia later this month to teach English for (at least) a school year. Students will range from 10-year-old children to adults in their senior decades. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
I depart the Elbe basin with a wealth of memories in tow, from talking with strangers on Hamburg water taxis to celebrating May Day with some friends and thousands of other people, many of them immigrants like me.
